More along the lines of the out come I reckon I’ll be going for. Animating the logo itself rather than creating an animation around it.
This one was selected and has been broadcast since 2008. Its a different take on animating, sticking to the old style methods of stop motion. I think my Esting will be based around motion graphics and visual effects rather than stop frame. After Effects is perfect for that kind of animation
Although these ones weren’t successful I think there are some good ideas. They’ve brought the time limit down to 10 seconds in this years competition so I’m a little more limited with what I can create in terms of a story line

I made a start on the E4 Estings competition before receiving the logo brief from Lydia. There are 2 weeks left until the project deadline but the competition deadline isn’t until the 1st of July so it may well continue beyond the Live Project. I’ve been researching what it is they judge the entries on and the themes in both content and style that I should be working towards.
‘We want you to chuck us your funnest, funniest, weirdyest, mischievous-est, cool-est, dumbest, cleverest, randomest, most nonsensical-est telly stuff that you got.’
‘We want you to take our logo and create an original brand sting that smacks of E4 attitude and can be played out on our E4 telly-channel – and we’re even giving out prizes for our favourites.’
E4 is definitely a ‘young person’s channel’, adhering to ages 15 - 25 as their main target audience. They are known for being humorous in their promotions and to some extent poking fun at their own channel and broadcasting content. The Estings are always created through competitions and voted for by the public so there are no obvious trends in what they go for. I need to spend some time sifting through the old ones and see which have been successful.
Trial. 3 Full Composition
This one is going to be used in the advert for the brand as a whole.
Trial. 3 - Brand Name
(In my opinion this one is the best of the three; the font stays crisp where as the logo looks a little scrappy on its own. The smoke effect looks most realistic in this one as well.)
Lydia has decided to use this version in her photo shoot video
Trial. 2 - Logo (the smoke effect is a little better on this one)
